Baden-Württemberg Procession of the people of Württemberg to mark the 25th anniversary of King Wilhelm I’s accession to the throne in 1841. In 38 (of 48) hand-coloured lithographic plates. (Stuttgart, C. F. Autenrieth, 1842). Each as a mounted double sheet on vellum. Sheet dimensions approx. 22.2 x 87 cm each. Heyd 1323. – Lipperheide Sbd 22. – On 28 September 1841, the 25th anniversary of the accession of King Wilhelm I of Württemberg (1781–1864) was celebrated in Stuttgart and many other places. The highlight of these celebrations was a grand procession through Stuttgart city centre. According to contemporary accounts, more than 10,000 people took part, on foot and on horseback, dressed in magnificent traditional costumes and uniforms. Led by military personnel, the procession was followed by agricultural societies, woodcutters, shepherds, ceremonial floats displaying agricultural produce, and representative floats from almost all the major towns and villages of Württemberg. - Showing signs of age and wear (mostly somewhat irregular at the margins), with minor marginal discolouration, and in places slightly creased or showing crease marks. Overall, a well-preserved collection and an important record of the significant historical event that strengthened the political stability and identity of the state of Württemberg. 38 (of 48) hand-coloured lithographed plates. Each mounted as a double sheet on wove paper. - Some age- and paper-related browning (mostly somewhat irregular in the margins), with small marginal tears, and partially somewhat creased or buckled. Overall, a well-preserved collection and an important record of the significant historical event that strengthened the political stability and identity of the state of Württemberg.
