Drawing of the ‘Rhinocerus’. c. 1800. Watercolour pen-and-ink drawing on handmade paper. 18 x 29.5 cm
Drawing based on Albrecht Dürer’s famous woodcut from 1515. Dürer produced the woodcut based on an eyewitness account, as he had never seen the rhinoceros himself; it had died whilst being transported to Rome. - Two creases, minor tears. Edges browned and stained. Overall in good condition.
