Klein, Johann Adam A collection of four etchings featuring dog motifs. 1818–1838. Etching on vellum. 8.5 × 11 cm to 12 × 18.5 cm. Unmounted, one mounted in a passe-partout. Signed and dated on the plate. As a Biedermeier painter and engraver, Johann Adam Klein concentrated on genre scenes. Whilst he also produced paintings from 1816 onwards, it is his prints that impress with their exceptional quality. A large proportion of his genre scenes feature animals, as do these four etchings. They depict dogs relaxing, drinking and encountering a cat. – Margins browned and showing handling marks, with slight foxing. Etchings unaffected. Overall, very well-preserved etchings with excellent contrast. Collection of four etchings featuring dogs. Etchings on wove paper. Loose; one mounted with a passe-partout.
