A collection of 10 Russian traditional costumes. Circa 1797. Hand-coloured copperplate engravings on handmade paper. Each 24 x 19.2 cm. All 10 mounted under a passe-partout with protective film. Titled on the plate. Engraved by Labrousse after Jacques Grasset de Saint-Sauveur.
Includes: A series of decorative Russian traditional costumes and scenes of everyday life by Jacques Grasset de Saint-Sauveur, the editor of the *Encyclopédie des voyages*, an encyclopaedic publication that vividly presented traditional costumes, customs and scenes of everyday life from various countries to a French audience. The hand-coloured plates depict bourgeois and rural costumes, as well as scenes of traders and markets in St Petersburg and Moscow.
