Arts and Crafts Sheraton, Thomas The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Drawing-Book in Four Parts. 4 parts in 1 vol., including the Appendix. With an engraved frontispiece and numerous copperplate plates, some of which are double-page, by Sheraton. London, T. Bensley, 1802. 1 leaf, pp. I–XVI, pp. 17–440. Cloth binding with gold-stamped title on the front and back covers (heavily rubbed and bumped, joints cracked). Third edition of the comprehensive work by the English furniture designer Thomas Sheraton, who, together with Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite, was one of the ‘Big Three’ of 18th-century English furniture production. The first edition of his work was published in 1791 and was purchased by several hundred furniture manufacturers, as a result of which Sheraton’s designs very quickly came to exert a major influence on the country’s furniture production. - Book block separated. Some pages slightly stained. Untrimmed and some pages uncut. Generally well preserved.
