Description
Schiller Procession Adler, C. Hamburg procession in memory of Mr Schiller on 13 November 1859. Hand-coloured lithograph by C. Adler. In 32 sheets joined end to end. Overall approx. 12.3 x 1200 cm. Mounted on wooden strips along the outer side edges and wrapped around small wooden boards. In a contemporary wooden box with a small metal clasp (approx. 4 x 15.5 x 20 cm). The lid of the wooden box bears a handwritten transcription of a quotation by Bernhard Endrulat from *Der Schillerfestzug in Hamburg ...*, p. 227. - Enclosed slip with handwritten notes confirming the completeness of the set, as well as a list of groups of people not included by the publisher C. Adler. - Browned and slightly mottled due to the nature of the paper; generally well preserved and with fine colouring. Hamburg procession commemorating Friedrich Schiller on 13 November 1859. Hand-coloured lithograph by C. Adler. In 32 sheets arranged side by side (approx. 12.3 x 1200 cm). Mounted on wooden strips at the outer margins and wrapped around a wooden board. In a contemporary wooden box with a clasp. – The lid of the wooden box bears a handwritten copy of a quotation by Bernhard Endrulat from ‘Der Schillerfestzug in Hamburg …’, p. 227. Inside is a sheet of paper with handwritten notes confirming the completeness of the procession and listing the groups of people not included by the publisher, C. Adler. – Browned due to the paper, some brown spots; overall well preserved and beautifully coloured. This lot is subject to standard tax.
