The first volume of Ludwig Puttrich’s work on medieval Saxon architecture. It was the German lawyer’s magnum opus, which brought him fame as an art historian. He was assisted in this by the illustrator Gottlieb Wilhelm Geyser. - The numerous plates show exterior views, interior views and details of the buildings described. The first volume covers the castle church at Wechselburg, the portal of Freiberg Cathedral, buildings in the Anhalt region, and those in the Schwarzburg region. - Some pages are heavily stained by mould. Overall in good condition with high-contrast plates.
