First edition of this rare work in an unusual large-print format, designed to facilitate reading by candlelight or in the nave of a church. – VD18 13063030. - With numerous interesting copperplate engravings. - In addition to various devotional pieces, it also contains prayers for confession and communion (Methodo Confitendi, ac Communicandi), which were expressly compiled from the surviving manuscripts and original writings of St Francis de Sales and supplemented with further spiritual texts. It thus conveys the famous, down-to-earth piety of the Bishop of Geneva (known from his *Philothea*) to Baroque Central Europe. - Frontispiece and title page pasted in; copperplate engravings partly closely trimmed at the bottom edge; old handwritten notes on the title page. Some leaves have been backed in the margins in places; overall, a well-preserved copy.
