Rare first edition. – Not listed in VD18 – Homiletic magnum opus by Sebastian Textor, a Benedictine monk from Ottobeuern and former professor in Salzburg. A surprisingly multi-layered work of reference offering new interpretations of traditional allegories. - The allegorical frontispiece featuring a portrait of the dedicatee, Johann Ernst, Count of Thun-Hohenstein, surrounded by views of Salzburg. - Somewhat browned in places or with slight foxing; overall a good copy.
