Leather with gilt edging and a gold-stamped spine label, as well as fillets and corner fleurons (worn and bumped; spine restored). Extremely rare. – With a mounted handwritten dedication: ‘To the Editor of the Edinburgh Review at the Library of Longman and Rees – London’. – With an ex-libris by ‘HB’ on the front endpaper. - The unpublished writings of Petrus Abelardus (1079–1442), published here for the first time by the French philosopher and translator Victor Cousin (1792–1867). From 1835, Cousin was an honorary member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. - Some pages with heavy foxing. Overall in good condition. Leather binding with gilt spine and gilt-stamped spine label, as well as fillets and corner fleurons (rubbed and bumped; spine restored). - Very rare. - With mounted handwritten dedication: ‘To the Editor of the Edinburgh Review at the Library of Longman and Rees – London’. - With a bookplate bearing ‘HB’ on the front endpaper. - The unedited writings of Peter Abelard (1079–1442), published here for the first time by the French philosopher and translator Victor Cousin (1792–1867).
