Historiarum ab urbe condita. All surviving books. Edited by J. P. Miller. 3 vols. With 3 engraved title vignettes. Berlin, Haude & Spener, 1751. Small 8°. Contemporary leather binding with floral embossing (slightly rubbed).
An edition of great significance for textual criticism, representing an attempt to make the ancient classics accessible in error-free, scientifically collated texts. Miller corrected many errors found in earlier editions and provided the work with valuable indexes (Epitomae). In the 18th century, it served as the authoritative working text for Prussian scholars and grammar schools. - The first vignette has some ink stains; overall, a good copy.
