Nietzscheana – Dite Collection Nietzsche, Friedrich Human, All Too Human. A Book for Free Spirits. New edition with an introductory preface. 2 volumes. Leipzig, Fritzsch, 1886. XV pp., 1 leaf, 377 pp., 2 leaves, XIII, 163 pp., 185 pp. Hardback with gilt lettering (slightly rubbed; upper joint of Vol. 1 with a small tear and a minor tear). New edition with a new introductory preface and a poem entitled ‘Unter Freunden’ at the end of Vol. 1 (3 unnumbered pp.). - Schaberg 43 and pp. 176–77 - Ziegenfuss I, p. 216 - cf. Mittelstraß II, p. 1012 - Nietzsche’s critique of philosophy, in particular of metaphysics. In the future, metaphysical explanations will be superseded by scientific ones, as soon as the latter have explained the true nature of religion, art and morality. Nietzsche also criticises faith in language. When Nietzsche sent the work to Wagner in 1878, the latter reacted with deep hurt and distress, as he sensed the inner loss of his disciple – which led shortly afterwards to a definitive personal break. - Vol. 1, first few pages with a small brown stain on the top edge; name on title page; overall a good copy. New edition with a new introductory preface and a poem titled ‘Among Friends’ at the end of Vol. 1 (3 unnumbered pages). - Nietzsche’s critique of philosophy, particularly metaphysics.
