Nietzscheana – Dite Collection Nietzsche, Friedrich Morgenröthe. Thoughts on Moral Prejudices. New edition with an introductory preface. Leipzig, Fritzsch, 1887. XI (1) pp., pp. 3–363 (1) p. (complete as stated). 8°. Contemporary half-linen binding with gold-embossed typographic title on the spine, covers overlaid with patterned paper and edges slightly speckled on the reverse (spine slightly bleached and stained, back cover with a light discolouration around the edges, slightly scuffed). A rare second edition, expanded to include a preface, of Nietzsche’s radical dismantling of Christian morality for the benefit of self-determined minds. – Schaberg 50 and p. 189 (illustration of the title page) - Borst 3501. - Zimmermann 41. - One of 784 copies of the remaining print run of the first edition, taken over by Fritzsch in 1886 from the insolvent Schmeitzner, supplemented by a nine-page preface by Nietzsche set in the same typeface and a new title page, both printed by Mehnert in Leipzig. - Endpapers more heavily soiled; first and last leaves with slight foxing; up to p. 18 with water stains on the outer and top margins and, in places, small stains. Title page more heavily soiled; otherwise evenly lightly browned; overall in sound condition. A scarce enlarged reissue of the first edition, the first printing of Nietzsche’s radical dismantling of Christian morality for the benefit of self-determined minds. Contemporary half-cloth with gilt typographic spine title, boards covered with block-printed paper and edges slightly speckled (spine slightly bleached and soiled, back cover showing shelf wear and minimal wear). - For references, see above. - One of 784 copies from the remaining print run of the first edition, first printing, taken over by Fritzsch in 1886 from the insolvent Schmeitzner, expanded to include a nine-page preface by Nietzsche set in the same typeface as the first and a new title page, both printed by Mehnert in Leipzig. - Endpapers, as well as the first and last leaves, show foxing; up to p. 18, there are water stains on the outer and top margins and, in places, some soiling. The title page is more heavily stained by age, but is otherwise evenly and lightly browned. Generally in sound condition.
