One of 480 copies (this copy unnumbered). – The two-colour illustrations were reproduced as phototypes at the State Academy in Leipzig under the supervision of Fritz Goetz. ‘As a self-taught artist, (Alastair) developed into an outstanding illustrator in the style of Beardsley, whom he at times even surpassed in the erotic undertones and demonic features of his “artificially refined” and elongated figures’ (Alfred Langer, Jugendstil und Buchkunst, Leipzig 1994, p. 58). – Set in Carl Ernst Poeschel’s Winckelmann-Antiqua typeface.
