Kreis, Wilhelm
The German Hygiene Museum in Dresden. G. Seiring: Foreword. – M. R. Möbius: The Building. – W. Schulze: Development and Organisation. With numerous illustrations. Berlin et al., Hübsch, 1930. 4°. XXII pp., 16 leaves, 23 pp. Illustrated. Original cloth binding (slightly rubbed).
Neue Werkkunst. - First edition, rare. - With numerous contemporary photographs, floor plans and texts, this work documents the original condition of the building prior to its severe destruction during the Second World War (1945). The building, designed by Wilhelm Kreis, is regarded as an outstanding testament to the late Weimar Republic. The architecture combines the functional, clean lines of the Bauhaus with elements of conservative monumental classicism. - The first 6 leaves have brown spots; overall a good copy.
