3rd edition of this lavishly produced volume on architecture. – The cover paper is ‘Fusuma’, which is used for partition walls in Japanese houses. The paper used for the endpapers is ‘Torinoko’, which originates from Fukui Prefecture in northern Japan. The paper used for the text is ‘Shigarami-gami’, which is produced in very small quantities during the winter. The Kokusai Bunka Shinkokai (Society for the Promotion of International Cultural Relations) had set itself the aim of familiarising foreign students staying in Japan with Japanese culture, and organised a series of lectures from 15 October to 6 December 1935.
