Midnight-blue morocco with gold-stamped title on the spine, gilt edges, richly gold-stamped blue morocco endpapers bearing the signature of the French bookbinder Henri Noulhac, staggered, partly dotted fillets, floral and plant borders and rocaille ornaments, double endpapers of grey moiré silk and marbled paper, gold edging on three sides, in a lined morocco slipcase with marbled paper covering.
One of 25 numbered copies of the special edition (GA 350) on Japon paper from the Manufactures Impériales, featuring a double print run of all woodcuts on ‘japon ancien’ and ‘chine’ paper. - One of the first publications by Édouard Pelletan, illustrated with 62 compositions by the Swiss painter Louis Dunki, which were carved in wood by Clément-Édouard Bellenger. - This copy was printed for M. Ferdinand Pradeau. - Scattered with minimal foxing. Overall, a copy in extremely good condition in a decorative Noulhac binding.
