Description
Film Egel and Paul Wiens, Karl-Georg Sonnensucher. A screenplay. Production manager: Dr Hajo Schoeppe. Potsdam-Babelsberg, VEB Studio für Spielfilme, c. 1957. 4°. Paperback (spine, joints and front cover edges reinforced with adhesive tape, brown stains, back cover with a small tear at the edge). Number. Manuscript copy with “273 pages numbered from ‘7’ to ‘285’”. - ‘Sonnensucher’ is a DEFA film by Konrad Wolf, which was completed as early as 1958. However, due to its critical portrayal of uranium mining by SDAG Wismut, the film was not shown in GDR cinemas until 1972. It is therefore one of the so-called ‘banned films’ of the DEFA. The film centres on the conflicts between the Soviet management and the German workers and communists, some of whom had been conscripted into labour service, in some cases against their will. - Title page bearing the stamp of the VEB-DEFA Studios; title page with a few slight marginal stains; browned due to the nature of the paper; the margins of the last 3 leaves reinforced with adhesive tape and backed with paper; otherwise generally well preserved.
