Art Nouveau Ács, Ferenc 10 original linocuts by Ács Ferencz. Folder containing 10 linocuts. Kolozsvár (Cluj): Studio nyomda, undated. In the original, printed publisher’s folder. Image size: approx. 280 × 228 mm. Sheet size: 316 × 245 mm. First edition. Limited, numbered edition; one of 200 copies. Each sheet signed in pencil by the artist. Folder containing 10 linocuts, printed in black (3), red (2), violet (4) and light violet (1). The portfolio brings together ten linocuts by the Hungarian painter Ferenc Ács. His teachers were Bertalan Székely (1835–1910) and Simon Hollósy (1857–1918). Hollósy invited him to the Nagybánya artists’ colony. At the beginning of the 20th century, this was the most significant movement in Hungarian artistic life and stood for naturalism and plein air painting. Ács exhibited throughout Hungary and internationally. From 1906, he lived and worked in Kolozsvár, where he opened his own school two years later. His works are held in several museums, including the Hungarian National Gallery. The portfolio is slightly stained and has some scuffing to the edges. The spine is damaged.
