Levee, John Shaw, Irwin A Preface and Four Seasons. A suite of five lithographs by John Levee. Text by Irwin Shaw. With 5 signed lithographs. New York, André Emmerich Gallery, 1959. 29 loose sheets of handmade paper. (each approx. 48 x 38 cm) in an original cloth-bound folding case with gold-embossed title (lower inner corner bumped, spine slightly faded and with light discolouration at the joints). In original cloth slipcase (partly faded and rubbed, somewhat stained). One of 150 numbered and signed copies (GA 170). - “Printed on Arches Pure RAG Vellum. The lithographs … are individually numbered and signed. The printing was completed on 31 January by Imprimérie du Compagnonnage, Paris, for the text, and by Studio Paris for the lithographs.” – With stamp “Printed in France / 1959”. - Title page and leaves slightly browned at the margins; some leaves retain their full hand-made edges; overall in good condition. One of 150 numbered and signed copies (total edition 170). - Loose handmade paper leaves in a cloth folder with a gilt-stamped title on the spine (lower inner edge bumped, spine slightly faded and lightly stained at the joints). In original cloth slipcase (partially faded and rubbed, somewhat stained). - Title leaf and margins somewhat browned; overall in good condition.
