First edition. Each volume signed by Brian Griffin; all volumes, with titles in different colours—pink, orange, light green and yellow—are presented together in the plexiglass slipcase as a book object. The photo book ‘POP’ presents a comprehensive exploration of Brian Griffin’s music photography for album covers, single sleeves, posters and press material. Brian Griffin began photographing the music world for STIFF Records in the late 1970s and soon became the pre-eminent visual chronicler of New Wave, post-punk and the New Romantics. Working from his studio in Rotherhithe, often on tight budgets and before the era of the photo shop, Griffin’s technical naivety led to great visual invention. How these photographs were created and which techniques were employed or invented is explained in an interview between Griffin and the author Terry Rawlings. This conversation, which draws on the photographs and album artwork, offers insightful and highly personal glimpses behind the scenes of this distinctive creative phase in music and visual history. Another section of the book features portraits of key figures in the music industry, such as Beatles producer George Martin, Brian Eno, John Peel and Daniel Miller” (Gost Books).
First edition. Each volume signed by B. Griffin and all volumes with differently coloured titles in pink, orange, light green and yellow, together in a plexiglass slipcase as a book object.
