Description
Photography Höke, Bernard A collection of 38 black-and-white and 2 colour photographs, as well as 17 contact prints, some by well-known photographers, documenting the work of the performance artist in the 1960s and 1970s. Dimensions ranging from approx. 6 x 6 to 27 x 13.5 cm. Loose in a paper box with two mounted labels on the lid: ‘Cosmic Theatre / Club of Rhein Main / Ewiger Atem’. An interesting document of the Berlin and Frankfurt performance scenes of the 1960s and 1970s. The photographs depict happenings, performances and actions, including four images from the performance *Ereignisse aus Schaustücken* – featuring plastic objects and the elements of fire, air, water and earth – with which Höke made his debut at the Berlin Academy of Arts in 1967. In 1969, Höke caused quite a stir with his ‘Kunstwegwerfmaschine’ (Art Disposal Machine) at the Cologne Art Market, and he contributed nine works – albeit invisible ones – to the exhibition ‘35 Artists in Frankfurt’. Photographers represented in this collection include: Jochen Littkemann (4), Berlin; Koch, Berlin (4); Klimesch, Braunschweig (3); Frank Roland-Beeneken, Berlin (4); Jürgen Graaff, Berlin (5). - Slightly wavy, crease marks or minor edge discolouration in places, some minor damage to the surface. - Enclosed: a handwritten, corrected leaflet from the Sri Aurobindo Society on the future of the home and housing. - A typewritten manuscript of just over one page on the ‘Paradise Movement’. - Two leaflets, glued into the file, from the tenants’ initiative against the destruction of housing in Oberursel, dated 1974. - The ‘Information Brochure on the Centre for Future Studies e.V., Berlin, 1968’. With handwritten corrections in green ink.
