Posters Keep your eyes open! on the roads. Original poster design, monogrammed ‘WB’. Gouache and opaque paints on paper. No date or print details, 1949. Approx. 49 x 38.5 cm (sheet size), framed under glass. The poster design depicts a dramatic road safety scene against an olive-green background. At the centre is a large skull behind a streamlined car that is about to strike a pedestrian. The poster was created as an original design as part of the early post-war road safety campaigns in Germany, which were intended to counteract the rapidly rising number of accidents caused by the nascent wave of motorisation. – A fine example.
