Posters Wiertz, Jupp (Aachen 1888 – 1939 Berlin) Christiania (skier). Colour poster. Offset print. Printed for Pallas Verlag, 1929. Approx. 43.5 x 54.5 cm (image). Framed with a passe-partout and glass (not re-framed) Inscribed on the original. Printed on lightweight card, based on an oil painting by the artist. Alongside Hohlwein, Wiertz was one of the most prominent commercial artists of his time. Both his travel posters and his Kaloderma advertisements rank amongst the iconic German posters of the 1920s and 1930s. Less well known is his work as a painter, although this too is of high quality and clearly bears the mark of the poster artist. The motif of a female skier offered here captures the dynamism of skiing superbly. Colour poster. Offset. – Inscribed on the panel. – Good.
