One of 180 copies, signed by the artist in the colophon. - Monod 6014 - J. Villon (i.e. Gaston Emile Duchamp) was a member of the ‘Section d’Or’ artists’ group from 1912 onwards, alongside his younger brother Marcel Duchamp, Juan Gris and Albert Gleizes, and is regarded as an important exponent of Cubism. - A masterpiece of book art depicting hard labour in the countryside, nature, the changing seasons and virtues such as justice and peace. J. Villon translated these archaic, nature-inspired themes into his own Cubist visual language. The motifs are characterised by rhythmic lines and geometric balance. - A fine copy.
