Meunier) with coloured floral inlays on the spine, gilt edging at the top and marbled endpapers; original plates bound in (slightly rubbed, edges slightly scuffed). One of 150 (GA 210) copies on van Gelder paper, signed by the artist and the translator in the colophon. - Monod 11451 - Carteret IV, 407: “A fine, highly regarded publication. One of the artist’s finest books …”. - A magnificently illustrated work on medieval legends of the saints, featuring scenes imbued with sun-drenched, oriental charm; our copy includes 3 original drawings, bound by Charles Meunier with decorative floral Art Nouveau inlays on the spine. - The reverse of the title page and the final pages are slightly stained, with some slight transfer from the lithographs on the opposite page.
