Estimate €400 - €600
Description
Werth, Kurth Shakespeare, William Troilus and Cressida. Translated by Hans Rothe. With 12 colour lithographs by Kurt Werth. Leipzig, 1921. 147 pp., 1 leaf, 4°. Brown crushed leather binding with filleted cover and spine, embossed with the publisher’s mark. Title on the spine and three-sided gilt edges. First edition by the State Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Trade in Leipzig. – Rodenberg 185.1 – One of 300 copies. – Printed under the supervision of Georg A. Mathey in the Academy’s workshops. The elegant (probably somewhat later) hand-bound cover is reminiscent of the work of Ignaz Wiemeler, who was appointed to the Academy in 1925 – possibly a corresponding, unfortunately unsigned, student piece. – A fine copy.
