Description
Africa – Portrait Photography Pocket notebook for the South-West African Expeditionary Corps, with a photographic portrait of Empress Auguste Victoria on the front cover. Berlin, Liebmann, c. 1906. Small 8° (15.5 x 10 cm). Hardback with red-edged pages, Bakelite covers and pen holder (binding detached from the block, portrait with a small dent). Pocket calendar appended with printed texts on the ‘Organisation of the Protectorate Forces of German South-West Africa’ and the ‘German Red Cross Societies’, as well as a notes section. - Front flyleaf with a facsimile of a manuscript by Auguste Victoria: ‘To the brave troops in German South-West Africa. Christmas 1906.’ - With several erased entries in pencil and one remaining in ink; slightly yellowed due to the paper, otherwise well preserved Africa. - Pocket calendar with notebook for the South West African Expeditionary Corps, featuring a photographic portrait of Empress Auguste Victoria on the front cover. Half leather with red edges, Bakelite covers and pen holder (binding detached from the block, portrait with a small dent). - Appended with printed texts on the organisation of the Protectorate Forces of German South-West Africa and the German Red Cross Societies. - Front flyleaf featuring a facsimile of a handwritten dedication by Auguste Victoria to the troops in German South-West Africa, dated Christmas 1906. - Contains several erased entries in pencil and one remaining in ink; slightly browned due to the paper, otherwise well preserved.
