Italian Nudes. 49 (of 50) plates in phototype. Leipzig, Carl Scholtze, c. 1905. Folio, 2 leaves, plates 4°. Loose in an OHLwd. folding folder with a mounted portrait (slightly stained and rubbed, minor tears at the folds, back cover slightly discoloured at the edges).
Thieme-Becker XXX, 328 – Köhler-Barche 382. - The sculptor Arthur Schulz (1873–1943) produced nude studies in Rome and the Campagna, some in poses inspired by antiquity, which were intended ‘primarily for sculptors and painters, architects and artists in the decorative arts’ (Foreword). – Plate 18 is missing; one illustration has a pencil scribble, slightly yellowed due to the paper, otherwise generally in good condition.
