Album containing 45 photographs of the Moon and other planets and galaxies. Circa 1900–1910. Predominantly silver gelatine prints. Various sizes (9.5 x 12 to 23 x 19.5 cm). Landscape 4°. Some mounted in a cloth-bound album (slightly bumped). A very rare, extensive collection of astrophotographs from the early 20th century. – The album contains a series of photographs of the Moon in its various phases, each with handwritten labelled by hand on the side. They show the craters and details of the lunar surface with impressive sharpness. Among the other photographs are several astrospectrographs as well as photographs of Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, the Andromeda Galaxy, Messier 101 and a black hole. - Some with heavy silvering.
