Airship – Zeppelin A collection of 8 amateur and original photographs of the rigid airship LZ 127 “Graf Zeppelin” (registration D-LZ127) during its visit to Budapest in 1931. The photographs show the airship in flight against the sky, in a close-up view displaying the registration ‘D-LZ127’ and the engine nacelles, as well as against the backdrop of buildings in Budapest city centre. The prints are mounted on card and bear a contemporary handwritten inscription: “1931 április / Graf Zeppelin. Vintages. Silver gelatine. 9 × 6 cm and 8 × 6 cm.” According to sources, the LZ 127’s flight to Hungary took place from 28 to 30 March 1931. The airship landed in Budapest on the morning of 29 March, flew over Hungary for around nine hours and took off that same afternoon to return to Friedrichshafen. The flight to Budapest marked the start of the 1931 flying season.
