Press Photography A collection of 9 press photographs relating to space and lunar exploration. Silver gelatine prints. Frankfurt am Main, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, 1961–1970. Dimensions: approx. 15.2 x 20.5 cm each. Each bears a DPA copyright stamp on the reverse and, in most cases, a printed explanatory text relating to the images. - Pictured: View of the Earth from Vostok II (1961) – Flight path of ‘Ranger 3’ (1962) – James Lovell and Edwin Aldrin upon their return to Earth from the ‘final Gemini mission’ (1966) – A view of the Moon taken by the ‘Lunar Orbiter 2’ probe (1966) – The ‘Apollo 1’ astronauts during a training session in the Apollo command module - Virgil Grissom and Roger Chaffee on the ramp leading to the ‘Apollo 1’ spacecraft - Traces of the fire in which the three astronauts lost their lives on the ‘Apollo 1’ capsule (1967) – Mysterious streak on a ‘Luna 13’ image (1968) – Astronaut asleep at the Marshall Space Flight Centre in Alabama (1970). - Reverse mostly stained (partly showing through to the front), some corners bumped and creased, otherwise generally well preserved.
