First German edition of Glaser’s *Traité de la chimie* (French first edition 1663). - VD 17 39:115904P - Krivatsy 4760 - Neu 1640 - Ferguson I, 319 - Duveen 251 - Brüning 2358 - Ferchl 186 - Glaser, a native of Basel, was court apothecary to Louis XVI and a professor of chemistry; he also became known for his – apparently involuntary – involvement in the poisonings carried out by the Marquise de Brinvilliers. “In this translation, the work became an important textbook for the Rosicrucian Brotherhood of the Theoretical Degree and thus also formed the basis for the Order’s later writings” (Brüning).
