With woodcut title vignette and further illustrative figures. Leipzig, Schürer, 1610. 276 (recte 277) pp., 1 leaf of contemporary engravings (somewhat stained and warped). First edition. – VD17 23:295550X – Ferguson I, 390 – Ferchl 231 – Caillet II, 5103 – The fundamental text for Western alchemists. According to Ferguson, the 1600 edition mentioned by Schmieder does not exist. – Slightly browned and somewhat stained due to the paper; name stamp on title page. - Bound in: Greverus, J., *Secretum*, *Et Alani Philosophi Dicta De Lapide Philosophico*. With printer’s mark on title page. Leiden, Officina Plantiniana, 1599. 86 pp. (tarnished). - Brüning 727 – Ferchl 20 – Contains ‘Secretum nobilissimum & verissimum venerabilis viri, Domini’ and by the Flemish alchemist Justus à Balbian (Joost van Balbian, 1543–1616), who also acts as editor, ‘Dicta Alani Philosophi de Lapide Philosophico, e Germanico idiomate Latine reddita’. – Inside cover with a small note pasted in; endpaper stamped in several places. Pages slightly browned, some with light staining, others with small water marks; the bound title page is slightly cropped at the top edge. Two bearers of the name stamps (H. Tränker and R. Petroschka) belonged to Täger’s Paansophic Lodge. Alchemy.
