The Floricultural Cabinet and Florists’ Magazine … Edited by Joseph Harrison, Gardener. 24 of 27 volumes, Sheffield, Whittaker & Co., 1833–1858, with 24 title pages in copperplate or lithography, 308 plates (8 folded) in lithography or copperplate engraving (of which 303 are old colour plates), numerous woodcuts in the text. With descriptive text in English, 8° green contemporary half-leather with coloured spine labels and gold-embossed titles, as well as leather corners. (Partially scuffed).
Pritzel, 3789. Rare in this state of completeness; no more comprehensive edition has been offered on the market in recent years. A total of 27 volumes were published under this title; volumes 12, 15 and 27 are missing here. The old-coloured plates often feature several illustrations of flowers. The woodcuts depict gardens, garden houses, etc. - Many volumes bear an ex-libris (‘Deo Volente’ above the coat of arms). Condition: text and plates free from stains; one plate has a tear. Occasional slight fading of the text. Beautiful, vibrant colouring.
