Geology Weissenbach, Karl Gustav Adalbert von Illustrations of Remarkable Veining Conditions in the Saxon Ore Mountains. With 32 lithographed plates. 2 vols. Leipzig, Leopold Voss, 1836. Rare first and only edition, beautifully illustrated with depictions of mineral deposits. – Poggendorff, II, 1291 – not in the Freilich collection and not in Schuh. - Feldman/Oekentorp, Geology and Mining in the Rhineland-Westphalian Region, pp. 188–89, no. 81 – Weissenbach (1797–1846) was a Saxon Privy Councillor, mining engineer and mineralogist. He studied under Abraham Gottlob Werner (1749–1817) at the Freiberg Mining Academy and, from 1820, was responsible for the extensive mineral collection that Werner had assembled and sold to the Academy. It is one of the few significant early collections that are still preserved in their entirety. As a mineralogist, Weissenbach described the mineral Freibergite in 1831 on the basis of analyses carried out by Gustav Rose. - Name on title page, name stamp on title page of the plate volume (Mining Engineer Seemann, Freiberg in Saxony). - Plates slightly foxed at the margins. .
