Physics *The Useful Cabinet*. Published in monthly instalments for the New England Association of Inventors and Patrons of Useful Arts. Vol. I. For the year 1808 (= all issues published). With 5 engraved plates. 144 pp. Large 8°. Late paperback with spine label. Rare. – *The Useful Cabinet* was a short-lived monthly journal of the New England Association of Inventors and Patrons of Useful Arts, whose president was Benjamin Dearborn. It contained short articles on physical and mathematical topics, patents and tools. - The plates depict a machine for shelling maize (Corn Sheller), instruments for extracting a tooth, field artillery equipment (Cobb’s Field Piece), a fireplace (Franklin’s Fireplace) and a mechanical butter churn (Glass Churn). - Endpapers renewed; some pages uncut, untrimmed, browned due to the paper and some with foxing. Physics. – Vol. I. For the Year 1808 (= the complete volume). With 5 engraved plates. Later cardboard binding with label on the spine. – Rare. - *The Useful Cabinet* was a short-lived monthly journal of the New England Association of Inventors and Patrons of Useful Arts, of which Benjamin Dearborn was president.
