Scrapbook containing illustrations on the subject of insects and molluscs. Large-format album with approx. 600 (527 coloured) mounted plates. Fol. (42 x 28 cm). Contemporary half-leather binding (scuffed and bumped, with missing sections in the cover).
The illustrations are taken from, amongst others, Oken’s *Natural History* – *Archives du Musée* – Bechstein’s *Illustrations of Natural History* – *Book of the World* – Cyrilli’s *Entomologia Neapolitana* – Férussac’s *History of Molluscs* – Schinz’s *Natural History* – Wilhelm’s *Conversations on Natural History*, etc. - Featuring illustrations of mussels, snails, crabs, worms, spiders, flies, beetles, etc. - The plates from the respective works are mostly pasted in as a whole, arranged by the corners and organised by theme or animal genus, and often bear brief handwritten notes in the margins. - From the library of Baron G.A. von Liebenstein. - Generally in good condition.
