Zoology – Ichthyology Bloch, Marcus Elieser Natural History of Foreign Fishes. Illustrated volume containing 103 (of 108) coloured engraved plates. (Berlin, published at the author’s expense, c. 1785). No title or text. 8°. Contemporary leather binding with red edges, raised bands, gold-stamped spine label and gold-stamped fillets (worn and bumped, joints scraped, spine with minor repairs). Nissen ZBI, 415 and Fischbücher, 22. – Plates 109–216 (excluding plates 114, 115, 117, 119 and 176) of foreign fish (plates 1–108 show German fish) from the so-called ‘Kleiner Bloch’. The complete work comprises 432 plates. – Only a few isolated minor stains; generally well-preserved and clean. Zoology. – Ichthyology. – Plate volume containing 103 (of 108) coloured engraved plates. Contemporary leather with red edges, gilt spine, gilt stamped label on the spine and gilt fillets (rubbed and bumped, joints chafed, spine with minor repairs). - Plates 109–216 (excluding plates 114, 115, 117, 119 and 176) of foreign fish (plates 1–108 depict German fish) from the so-called ‘Little Bloch’. The complete work comprises 432 plates. - Only minimal staining in places; overall in good condition and clean. This lot is subject to standard tax.
