Extensive collection relating to OSRAM.
Contains: 6 folders of designs and advertising leaflets, approx. 420 advertising leaflets and brochures, 68 sheets with mounted photographs, as well as 7 loose photographs, a photo album entitled ‘Slide Collection 1948’, 12 rolls of film, approx. 100 glass plate positives, 14 photographic negatives and 9 original light bulbs manufactured by OSRAM. - The light bulbs, produced since 1905 with a tungsten filament, were entered into the Patent Office’s register of trade marks on 17 April 1906 under the name Osram. The name alluded to the two metals used: osmium and tungsten. Over the following decades, Osram developed into the global market leader amongst light bulb manufacturers. In 2019, the company sponsored the interior lighting of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, and the German firm was also commissioned to provide the lighting for the Sistine Chapel. Osram, which has been part of ams Osram since 2022, is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, and the brand remains one of the leading providers of lighting and sensor technologies to this day. – An extensive collection in good overall condition.
