Description
No. 54 – BLACK PANTHER (Saunders 1948)
A shrub with almost entirely double flowers; very dark purple, ruffled petals with flecks of lighter colour. Red filaments of varying lengths; crimson-pink stigmas; very dark, small calyx. Finely dissected foliage. Its stolon-forming habit allows it to quickly form a broad clump. So much for the technical details. The reality is far more captivating!!! An avalanche of almost black flowers scattered throughout a shrub with fine maple-like leaves that are a vivid green at the start of the season.
Mature height 150–180 cm.
Allow it about 3 m of space on the ground so that it can spread out unhindered… From the 2024 grafts
