Description
SCHMITT LOTUS SEVEN – YEAR 1981 – 11 CV – 2-seater – Es – 1,500 km and 32 hours A true icon amongst lightweight sports cars, the Lotus Seven stands out for its minimalist design, modest weight and a philosophy entirely focused on driving pleasure. Designed by Colin Chapman, it prioritises efficiency, driving thrills and mechanical simplicity – characteristics that have contributed to its reputation amongst sports car enthusiasts. This example is a Schmitt Lotus Seven, identified by its manufacturer’s plate and serial number. The car is in very good overall condition, both mechanically and in terms of the bodywork and upholstery. Its maintenance history is supported by a file of invoices presented during the valuation carried out on 25 March 2026 by LZN Expertise Automobile & Conseil. The engine runs normally and the gearbox shifts smoothly, despite a constant belt noise. The engine type has been identified as original. The underbody is in good condition and shows no signs of major impact damage. However, a few very slight traces of corrosion are visible at the front of the tubular chassis. The bodywork and paintwork show some minor cosmetic flaws resulting from previous restoration work. Inside, the upholstery is very well preserved, although the dashboard, buttons and dials are not original. The passenger compartment cover folds out and back in smoothly, despite a few signs of age. The original tyres have recently been replaced. The most recent roadworthiness certificate, dated 3 November 2021, did not report any faults. The odometer has been replaced, as the old one was not linked to the gearbox. The new odometer currently reads 1,500 km and 32 hours; these figures are subject to verification and do not allow the vehicle’s total mileage to be established. Finally, the vehicle was identified using the manufacturer’s plate riveted to the bulkhead in the engine compartment. The numbers recorded match those on the registration certificate provided, although the cold-stamped chassis number is missing. Research carried out confirms that the serial number corresponds to a Schmitt Lotus Seven model. Maintenance records available for inspection, including invoices. Sold as is.
