MERCEDES-BENZ 190 SL – YEAR 1961 – 11 CV – 2-seater – Es – CG – 76,000 km (engine overhauled in Portugal by FM Classicos) An iconic roadster produced from 1955 to 1963, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL embodies the elegance and certain design cues of the legendary 300 SL. Renowned for its comfort, reliability and refinement, it prioritises driving pleasure over pure performance. Its 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine, powered by two original Solex carburettors, produces 105 ch. Delivered new in France on 1 August 1961 by the Royal Élysées dealership in Paris, this example is finished in an elegant DB 180 silver-grey paintwork, paired with a red leather interior, a burgundy soft top and a silver-grey hardtop. Fully restored between 2014 and 2016 by FM Classicos, it has undergone a complete overhaul of the bodywork, chassis, paintwork, upholstery and electrical system. Its engine, which had previously been rebuilt, was inspected in 2016. Maintenance has continued, notably with the carburettor being overhauled in 2018, the braking system in 2019, a service in 2020 and routine maintenance in 2024. A technical survey, including compression testing, has also been carried out. Presented in a remarkable state of preservation, this 190 SL impresses with the quality of its restoration and its faithful adherence to the original specification, particularly thanks to its Solex carburettors. Exhibited at Rétromobile, it is a prime example for enthusiasts of the Mercedes-Benz brand and collectors of iconic 1960s roadsters. Maintenance records available for inspection, including invoices.
