Terms of sale
This autumn sale is organised in two parts. It opens with a section devoted to hunting and the hound hunt, bringing together old books and documents on the French hound hunt, prints, drawings and animal pastels by renowned artists (Cecil Aldin, Léon Danchin, Karl Reille), paintings on hunting themes, as well as a significant collection of taxidermied trophies—horns and antlers (chamois, red deer, fallow deer, African antelopes, wild boar)—bearing witness to safaris and hunting traditions of the past. This is followed by a general sale covering a wide range of decorative arts and furniture: paintings and works on paper from the French, Flemish and Belgian schools, including a collection of regional paintings from the Opal Coast; Far Eastern arts (porcelain, lacquerware and bronzes from China and Japan) and primitive arts from Central Africa, notably from a Cameroonian colonial collection assembled in the 1920s; silverware and wall clocks; 18th- and 19th-century furniture; as well as a selection of timepieces and jewellery. This diversity of provenance and periods makes for a decidedly eclectic sale, ranging from exceptional hunting pieces to classic works of art.
