Description
1980 Ferrari 308 GTB Carter Sec
French vehicle registration document
Chassis no. 30731
French origin: delivered new from Pozzi
Carter Sec version: the most powerful of the 308s (255 chevaux)
Mechanical overhaul in 2025
The first European carburettor-equipped models produced up to 1980 featured a dry-sump lubrication system (Tipo F106 AB), a technical feature derived from motor racing that lowered the centre of gravity and ensured optimum oil pressure. Powered by four twin-barrel Weber carburettors, this original version produces 255 chevaux, making it the most powerful variant of the production 308 before the power restrictions introduced with the switch to electronic fuel injection (GTBi) and subsequently to four-valve cylinder heads (Quattrovalvole).
Chassis 30731 was delivered new by Charles Pozzi, the official French importer, in March 1980 to its first owner, who lived in the Paris region and kept it until 1989. This car features an Argento paint finish combined with a black leather interior. In 1990, it was purchased from a Parisian dealer by a car enthusiast based in the Vienne department, who retained ownership for 27 years. It then became part of the collection of an enthusiast from Auvergne, before being sold to a new owner in 2021.
Under this ownership, a major programme of mechanical work was entrusted to the specialist workshop Dino Sport, at a cost of over 30,000 euros. The vehicle changed hands in 2025; at that time, a restoration of its underbody was undertaken, a process documented by a comprehensive photographic record. Finally, in 2026, a maintenance service was carried out at the LDO Racing workshops, including the replacement of the timing belts, the overhaul of the ignition system and the replacement of all fluids.
Distinguished by its Argento livery and a clear history with only a few previous owners, it has just undergone a series of major works, including over €30,000 worth of mechanical work at Dino Sport, a restoration of its underbody in 2025 and a timing belt overhaul completed in 2026 at LDO Racing.
