History:
In 1956, BMC launched a project to develop an economical car to meet the needs of a public affected by the first oil crisis linked to the Suez Canal. The specifications were simple: four people in a compact space with a small-capacity engine, capable of handling both city and open-road driving whilst consuming as little fuel as possible. Competition was fierce; VW was producing high-performance Beetles, as was Fiat. But the other cars were either rear-wheel drive or bulky. This marked the debut of the Mini, which would remain in production from 1959 – the car’s official launch date – until 2000, a successful yet final year for this British icon.
Condition: Our model here is a beautiful limited-edition British Open convertible, in green. It is in excellent condition, has not been repainted, and runs smoothly. Before undertaking any long journeys, it will be necessary to carry out the essential checks.
