Description
1967 - JAGUAR MK2 3.4L Chassis number : 181569BW French registration Ex-Michel Colucci, known as Coluche! Ex-Michel Colucci, known as Coluche! The model we are presenting was the car of the most famous French comedian and actor, Michel Colucci, known as Coluche, who died too soon on 19 June 1986. A lover of fine motoring, he bought this Jaguar Mark II equipped with a 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed automatic gearbox on 20 September 1980. The car was then registered at 56 rue du Montparnasse in the 14th arrondissement of Paris under number 494 DEA 75. He had a sophisticated radio fitted with a state-of-the-art equalizer - which it still has - and after driving it several thousand kilometres, he sold it on 16 July 1985 to its 3rd owner, a collector from the Dordogne. Ordered new by a doctor in the Val de Marne in its very elegant 'Regent Grey' anthracite grey metallic colour, with a grey leather interior and matching carpet, we know that the engine was completely restored in 1991. A new engine block was ordered from England, the gearbox changed, the paintwork redone, the wood varnished, and the carpets and leather of the front seats replaced. Its 4th owner, a French scientist and eminent company director in the health sector, bought it at an auction in Paris in December 1994. A keen collector, he always took great care to preserve the authenticity of his English car, as attested by the many invoices attached to his file. 24 years later, this generous patron of the arts entrusted us with the sale of his car in aid of the Restos du Cœur charity just before Christmas 2018. Sensitive to its history, the car will go to its current owner's garage in Charente, where it will be pampered. In 2019, the gearbox, brakes, wiring harness, exhaust system, dismantling of the camshafts to adjust the valve clearances, etc. will be treated at specialist Mosport in Cognac for just over €7,200. Then, in July 2020, the steering box was replaced with a power-assisted rack and pinion, the alternator and starter motor were replaced, and the carburettors and engine tuning were overhauled (€8,228 - Garage Aumonier, 79234). We're not just talking about a Jaguar, but Coluche's car! One of the most beautiful and powerful saloon cars of the 1960s, long in the hands of a man who almost transformed the French political landscape. His glibness, humour and convictions carried him far beyond his social standing and made him a man appreciated by all and feared by the greatest. Cultivating paradoxes, he made this car, a symbol of elegance and distinction, his own! The model we present here once belonged to France's most famous comedian and humorist, Michel Colucci, known as Coluche, who passed away far too soon on June 19, 1986. A true enthusiast of fine machines, he purchased this Jaguar Mark II - equipped with the 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed automatic gearbox - on September 20, 1980. At the time, the car was registered to 56 rue du Montparnasse in Paris's 14th arrondissement under the license plate 494 DEA 75. Coluche had a state-of-the-art radio system with an equalizer installed - still present today - and after driving it for several thousand kilometres, he sold it on July 16, 1985, to its third owner, a collector from the Dordogne region. Originally ordered new by a doctor from Val-de-Marne in its very elegant metallic anthracite grey shade, Regent Grey, with matching grey leather upholstery and carpeting, the car's engine was completely restored in 1991. A brand-new engine block was sourced from England, the gearbox was replaced, the paintwork redone, the wood trim re-varnished, and the carpets and front seat leathers renewed. Its fourth owner, a scientist and prominent French entrepreneur in the healthcare sector, acquired it at an auction in Paris in December 1994. A discerning collector, he lavished great care on his British saloon, always striving to preserve its authenticity - as evidenced by the numerous invoices included in its history file. Twenty-four years later, this generous philanthropist entrusted us with the sale of his car for the benefit of Les Restos du Cœur, shortly before Christmas 2018. Moved by its history, the current owner, based in Charente, added it to his collection, where it has since been pampered. In 2019, the gearbox, brakes, wiring harness, exhaust system, and camshaft valve clearances, among other works, were overhauled by specialist Mosport in Cognac for just over €7,200. Then, in July 2020, the steering box was replaced with a power-assisted rack, along with a new alternator and starter, carburetor refurbishment, and engine tuning (€8,228 - Garage Aumonier, 79234). We are not speaking of just any Jaguar - this is Coluche's car! One of the most beautiful and capable saloons of the 1960s, once owned by a man who nearly reshaped France's political landscape. His wit, humour, and convictions carried him far beyond his social standing, making him both beloved by the public and feared by the powerful. Ever the master of paradoxes, Coluche had made this car - a symbol of elegance and distinction - his own. 30 000 € - 40 000 €
