Description
2008 - BMW Z4 “GT4”
Racing car sold without registration
A genuine BMW Motorsport racing car with a proven track record in the racing world.
The GT4 category is reserved for cars derived from production models and specially prepared for competition. Created to offer cost-effective racing, it emphasises a balance between the performance of the various vehicles.
GT4 cars retain much of their original design whilst incorporating safety equipment and enhancements suited to racing. This category is very popular in national and international championships, as it allows both amateur and professional drivers to compete in demanding races with high-performance yet relatively accessible cars.
The BMW Z4 GT4 is a racing car developed by BMW Motorsport in 2008 based on the BMW Z4 M Coupé (E86). It is powered by the S54B32 engine, a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre inline-six producing around 390 hp. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Weighing between 1,200 and 1,300 kg depending on the configuration, with a reinforced chassis, adjustable suspension, a limited-slip differential and high-performance brakes, the Z4 GT4 stands out for its excellent balance, reliability and great agility on the track.
Competing in numerous GT4 championships and endurance races from 2008 onwards, the BMW Z4 GT4 quickly demonstrated its competitiveness thanks to its performance and robustness. It was used by numerous private teams in Europe and around the world, securing several victories and podium finishes in national and international competitions. Its reliable naturally aspirated engine, low weight and balanced weight distribution made it a benchmark in the GT4 category for several seasons. Its success helped to strengthen BMW Motorsport’s reputation in Grand Touring racing.
A former car from L'Espace Bienvenue, our example is believed to have competed in the GT4 European Cup with André Grammatico through his G&A Racing team, thus boasting a provenance recognised within the racing community. It is currently in good condition and is particularly popular with drivers thanks to its balanced chassis and its responsive, reliable naturally aspirated engine. This model is often considered very accessible – a must-see for enthusiasts!
