One of the first Honda cars produced, the S800, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1966, remains true to the brand’s tradition. Built to exceptional quality standards and meticulously finished down to the smallest detail, both inside and out, it is powered by an engine capable of reaching 8,500 rpm. Lively, refined and understated, the S800 perfectly embodies Honda’s philosophy and lays the foundations for the manufacturer’s future models.
Ivoire Troyes is delighted to offer this 1967 Honda S800 Coupé. It is finished in light grey with a black interior. Overall, it is in fair condition, with non-original paintwork that shows some imperfections in its preparation (roof). Following a period of inactivity, the state-of-the-art mechanical components will require the necessary attention to get it running again. The driver’s side sills show early signs of perforating rust that will need to be repaired; this appears to be more superficial on the passenger side. The floorpan and underbody are in fairly good condition and show no significant signs of impact or rust.
The year 1967 is of particular interest for the S800 Coupé, as the chain drive was discontinued and advantageously replaced by a conventional driveshaft. As Honda’s first iconic sports car, this relatively rare S800 Coupé holds a prominent place amongst the most sought-after Japanese classic cars. Offering a driving experience that bridges the gap between a car and a motorbike, it is ideally suited as a project for a connoisseur.
(The registration document is not in the name of Mr Adrien TASSIN, but an application for a new one is currently underway)
