This car, which previously belonged to the specialist Éric Pérou, was purchased in March 1991 at an auction in Esvres by its current owner, an enthusiast based in Touraine who takes great care over the condition of his cars. Sold new in the United States and then re-imported to Europe, this Jaguar Type A was likely subjected to a superb restoration in the 1980s, which has stood the test of time remarkably well and now boasts a beautiful patina, thanks to meticulous maintenance documented by numerous invoices totalling over €30,000 over the past 30 years, from the Tessier garage in Veigné and Éric Pérou’s garage – both renowned establishments. The file even includes a logbook in which the owner recorded his journeys, mechanical work and refuelling, highlighting 35 years of regular and reliable use! A fan has also been fitted to prevent overheating and make driving easier.
Painted in a light beige shade, the bodywork is beautifully preserved, as is the interior, which features tobacco-coloured upholstery softened by use, set against the classic and sporty dashboard of the Type E. The 4.2-litre twin-cam six-cylinder engine shows signs of well-maintained use, and the interior of the boot confirms the excellent condition of the bodywork.
It is rare to find a Type E in such condition, ready to hit the road for a leisurely drive or a historic rally crossing the Alpine passes, where this car’s performance will shine, accompanied by the magnificent sound of its legendary engine.
